Setting up your internet browser for VegSpec

VegSpec requires the use of Microsoft IE v5.5 or higher.  Your internet browser must also have cookies and javascript enabled.  When you try to run the application, one of the following conditions may exist if your setup is not correct. 

Cookies not enabled:

Cookies allow the VegSpec application to better manage your login session. The application uses cookies and either you have cookies disabled or your browser does not support them. Current versions of Internet Explorer are cookie capable browsers that are free and can be downloaded from the respective web sites. (http://www.microsoft.com). 

A cookie is a text-only string stored in the memory of an internet browser. This string contains the domain, path, lifetime, and values of variables set by a web application.  The string is deleted when the VegSpec session is over. There are no cookies stored on your computer.

JavaScript not enabled:

This application uses JavaScript and either you have JavaScript disabled or your browser does not support it.  Current versions of Internet Explorer are JavaScript capable browsers that are free and can be downloaded from the respective sites. (http://www.microsoft.com)

Style Sheets not enabled:

This application uses Style Sheets and either you have Style Sheets disabled or your browser does not support it.  Current versions of Internet Explorer are Style Sheet capable browsers that are free and can be downloaded from the respective sites. (http://www.microsoft.com)

To enable cookies, style sheets and JavaScript in Internet Explorer:

  1. Different Internet Explorer versions have somewhat different organization under Internet Options.

  2. On the IE toolbar, click Tools, then Internet Options.

  3. From the Internet Options, click the Privacy tab.

  4. Adjust security level to accept cookies.

  5. Click the Advanced tab.

  6. Check Use Java 2 for <applet> to enables JavaScript.
