Propagule Types Table

Bareroot A planting material consisting of a plant with exposed roots.
Bulb An underground food storage organ that is essentially a modified bud consisting of fleshy leaves that surround and are attached to a small stem.
Container A plant that is grown in a container and transplanted from the container to ground.
Corm A vertically oriented, thickened food storage stem that is usually enveloped by a few papery nonfunctional leaves.
  Culm Aerial stems of grasses, sedges and rushes. Normally vertical, but can be prostrate.
Cutting Cuttings are detached vegetative plant parts that will develop into compete new plants by reproducing their missing parts. Cuttings might be made from stem, root or leaf tissue.
Seed A mature ovule containing an embryo and bound by a protective seedcoat.
Sod Stoloniferous or rhizomatous grasses.
Sprig A stolon, rhizome, tiller or combination used to establish a grass.
Tuber A swollen, fleshy, underground stem.
