3. Whenever I try to go to the Objectives screen, VegSpec stays on the Site Description screen and displays a message in red characters. What do I do?
VegSpec Site Description method requires all soils and climate data be populated before you move to the Objectives Screen. The message lists data elements that must be populated, or changed to be compatible with other site data. If the error list is lengthy, it may be that you forgot to choose a particular soil (area ID, map unit, component) and climate information from the drop-down fields. Complete those selections and try again. However, if the error list contained only a few entries, it may be that the database information for your selected soil survey or climate station is incomplete.
Carefully review the message to determine whether soil or climate information is missing.. Press Soil Attribute Suboption to open the Soil Attributes screen, or Climate Attributes Suboption to open the Climate Attributes screen.
You can edit, or add data on these screens, then press Site Description on the top menu bar to save your data and return to the Site Description Screen. Once all data has been entered, or corrected, you can proceed to the Objectives Screen.
A similar message may be displayed if you try to go from the Objectives Screen to the Select Plants Screen without selecting an Practice.
