Objectives - defining your objectives

The Objective section allows you to determine what vegetative practice and purposes you are using on your site. It is important to select a vegetative practice, as this narrows your plants list considerably.

To Select a Vegetative Practice

A vegetative practice is required.

  1. Select one vegetative practice option, and the screen is refreshed with a list of purposes to choose from.

To Select a Purpose

Purpose selections are optional, and impose additional requirements on the plant selection process that result in a shorter list of potential plants. If you choose more than one purpose, the suggested plants must satisfy all selected purposes. See Frequently asked Question #2 for "what if I want to select a seeding or planting mixture that will meet more than one purpose or SubPurpose" for more information.

  1. Select any Purposes that may apply.

  2. Click on the Accept Purpose(s) button to accept your choice(s), and a list of optional SubPurposes will be available.

To Select a SubPurpose

SubPurposes are optional and are displayed after you have selected any applicable Purposes.

  1. Highlight a SubPurpose option in the drop-down field, or ctrl+click to select multiple SubPuposes.

  2. Click on the Accept SubPurpose(s) button to accept your choice(s).

To Select Optional Plant Characteristics
  1. Click on applicable choices for these optional plant characteristics.
